Security can be tricky in a DevOps environment, because if it’s applied too stringently, can keep products from being released in a timely manner. If it’s treated too passively, risks can quickly accumulate.

When David McCheyne, DevOps Engineer at Datto, outlined a plan to ease the company into developer-first security using Snyk, he thought it would take his teams a year to prove the concept. A seasoned DevOps pro, David understood very well the enormity of this change and was prepared to slowly introduce Datto security champions to the Snyk platform and not force the process.

Security analysts know this situation well: inundated by alerts, alternating between 10 different security tools, and feeling the pressure of responding to each and every threat. It’s typically around this point that SOC teams realize it’s humanly impossible to process the amount of data that needs to be processed, and they should start looking for a solution.
