Who Controls LLMs? Digital Sovereignty, Policy, and AI Security Risks | India AI Impact Summit 2026
AI agents are quickly becoming first-class actors in the digital ecosystem—logging into systems, invoking multiple APIs, collaborating, and even interacting socially with other agents. In a panel discussion on “Enhancing Cyber Resilience Across the Digital Ecosystem”, the miniOrange Founder & CEO Mr. Anirban Mukherji highlighted why digital identity is now the foundation for securing agent-driven environments, especially as authentication and authorization protocols expand globally across platforms and enterprises.
He emphasized the growing risk of agents receiving system-level access by default, and how this can create new “rogue agent” pathways—where compromised or malicious agents can exploit trust, befriend other agents, and gain broader access than intended. This mirrors the classic insider threat problem, but at machine speed and massive scale, making detection and containment far more challenging.
In his session, “Securing the Future: Cyber Defence for an AI Driven World”, he explained why resiliency must complement security: assume breaches will happen, then build strong monitoring, rapid detection, and response mechanisms to reduce blast radius. Key focus areas included shift-left security through AI education, behavior-based monitoring for AI agents to detect anomalies, and continuous authentication approaches that verify identity throughout a session (including real-world methods like acoustic fingerprinting used in call center environments).
He also addressed a broader strategic concern: the increasing concentration of control over LLMs and the intelligence layer of the internet, raising important questions about transparency, data ownership, and national policy. The message was clear—governments and organizations must balance security, privacy, usability, and governance to build a trustworthy AI ecosystem, and invest in AI-native security plus ethical hacking talent to stay ahead of emerging threats.
