This month, we sit down with Sam McLane, Chief Technology Services Officer and one of Arctic Wolf's original team members, as he reflects on the company's journey from six employees to more than 3,500 worldwide. Sam shares lessons learned from nearly 15 years of building Arctic Wolf, why relationships have been at the heart of his career success, how he thinks about leadership, innovation, and staying ahead in the ever-changing cybersecurity landscape, and so much more!

Sam McLane is the Chief Technology Services Officer and original team members at Arctic Wolf, where he drives the company's technical vision across AI-driven security operations, extended detection and response (XDR), and agentic SOC platforms. With over 30 years of experience spanning cybersecurity, product management, and engineering leadership, Sam oversees initiatives from Arctic Wolf's Aurora platform to its detection and integration ecosystems.

Before his current role, Sam held senior technical and product leadership positions at Arctic Wolf during a period of rapid growth. Prior to Arctic Wolf, Sam led product management for Blue Coat Systems' Cloud Security Services business. Earlier in his career, he held sales engineering leadership roles at Lucent Technologies, served as a networking consultant at KPMG, and managed network operations at Temple University. Sam holds a Master of Science in Mathematics from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Washington and Lee University. He is a co-inventor on a U.S. patent for automated device authentication in computer networks.
