APIs power today’s digital economy and enable organizations to succeed in their business innovation efforts. Because every company’s APIs are unique, so are its security gaps, which bad actors will inevitably try to exploit. Many of the APIs that enable today’s applications and business services live and breathe within the Amazon Web Service (AWS) ecosystem.

The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) is a non-profit foundation devoted to web application security. One of OWASP's guiding principles is that all of their resources should be freely available and simple to find on their website, enabling anyone to increase the security of their own web applications. They provide forums, tools, videos, and documentation among other things.

Since a lot of our customers build and run their applications in AWS, our partnership and joint solution delivery with AWS provides enormous value. We’re excited to share that we’ve deepened our ties to AWS in two compelling ways, by achieving AWS WAF Ready Status and earning AWS Security Competency. Salt is the first and only API security company in both of these vital AWS programs.

The accolades continue for Salt Security! What a week we’re having – and it’s only Thursday! RSA has been action-packed, meeting with customers, showing off our new product enhancements, and booking time with new prospects. Interest in API security is running at an all-time high, as more organizations recognize what Salt saw years ago, that APIs entirely upend the security playing field!

With warm and sunny weather expected all week, a bunch of the Salt team is thrilled to be at RSA in San Francisco! Security AI usage has surged, and enterprises are reaping the benefits. In its 2022 Cost of a Data Breach Report, IBM found that organizations deploying security AI and automation incurred $3.05 million less on average in breach costs – the biggest cost saver found in the study. According to the study, organizations using security AI and automation detected and contained breaches faster. However, while leveraging AI clearly makes a difference, organizations must implement the right architecture.
